What it meansnginx forwarded the request to an upstream server but got an invalid response or no connection, often because the backend app is down.

The first thing to checkCheck that the backend app or PHP-FPM is running and listening on the address in proxy_pass or fastcgi_pass, then read the nginx error.log.
